Who is in the cockpit?

My guess is that might be Chuck Lyford in the cockpit of his #8 Bardahl and later Challenger racer of the 60's. He raced from 1964 to 1967. I think this picture might be of him in that Mustang before it had the race "markings" painted on it. If it is him, this picture was probably taken in about 1964 or 1965.His racer (after being in storage and disassembled for several years) was eventually acquired by Bruce Ellis and raced as "Section Eight" in stock configuration and a military paint scheme. This was during the late 70's and early 80's before Ellis sold the Mustang.

HINT: The initials of the pilot are HC. The N# is N____D and the numbers (4 of them) add up to 21. Good Luck.

It must be Howard Chilton in N6519D #2 (44-74012) as Dick says; therefore I think case #277 is solved, too.... Martin / Swiss Mustangs

That is definitely not Chuck Lyford in the picture.
