I'll start the ball rolling on this one. This is N44727, 44-72739. It wore this paint scheme in 1973, and for a while, wore the name, POONTANG on the cowling. I don't believe it is on the cowl for this photo, but it would be just behind where the left wing covers the view of the cowl. After this paint scheme, it went to the present MAN O' WAR scheme.

Hello Curtis: Without posting this reply for the benefit of others who will try to ident this photo. It was taken the 3rd Saturday of May in 1973 by Bryan Cooke flying with Dave Zeuschel in N332. It is N44727 over the Castasic area north of Van Nuys airport. Bruce Guberman is the pilot and I am the lucky guy in the back seat. Fortunately, working at Square one, as you know MAN O WAR is still going strong. Bruce and I held a 30 year anniversary ( of sorts) flight 6 weeks ago and it was as expected. Perfect! Hopefully when the Hawthorne air faire comes around on the 16th and 17th of August, we at the Western Museum of Flight ( I am the restoration Manager ) are actively trying to get MAN O WAR here for the event. As always, your site is a great place to stop, relax and dream. Take care, blue skies always. Dana
