This Maroon and gold mustang was owned and operated by Dave Norland--a pilot for Continental Airlines--from Denver CO. Norland was a frequent participant at the Reno Air Races from around 1973 until about 1979. Unfortunately, the aircraft seemed to encounter some different mechanical problems during it's racing days, but 1979 seemed to be one the better times for Norland when he took 4th place in the Bronze race.I vaguely remember reading of some mention of the aircraft still being operated by a different owner in recent years (either on the Mustang Survivor List or in a warbird magazine) but do not recall the exact details. As always, I hope this "info" is helpful to fellow Mustang enthusiasts.
